How To Thrive As A Stay-At-Home Mom

Many Christian women today choose to go the stay-at-home mom route when they begin having children. Having the means to be able to care for your children as they grow is a true blessing, making it easy to keep a strong and thankful heart day in and day out. Being a stay-at-home mom, however, is no walk in the park. To truly thrive and be the best you can be for your kids, you need to make sure that you:

How To Thrive As A Stay-At-Home Mom

1) Make Time for Yourself

You may have chosen to be a stay-at-home mom so that you can always be there for your kids, but that doesn’t mean that you should forget about your “me” time. Don’t be afraid to ask friends and family to watch your kids for a little while so that you can settle down with a book or catch up with your favorite TV show.

2) Don’t Lose Touch with Friends

Speaking of friends, it is important not let your relationships grow distant once you start being a stay-at-home mom. Feeling like you have a good support network is highly beneficial for your overall level of happiness. If you can’t make the time to see your friends in person too often, then at least make the effort to call them or contact them through social media.

3) Try to Fit in Some Exercise

Running around after children all day can be exhausting, and sometimes the last thing you want to do is think of adding additional exercise into your daily routine. However, getting and staying in shape can give you a lot more energy and keep you from feeling so tired at the end of the day. Exercise can also contribute to a healthier and more positive mindset.

4) Pursue a Hobby That You Are Passionate About

You may be passionate about raising your kids, but you shouldn’t let your role as a stay-at-home mom consume your entire identity. Try to find a hobby that you enjoy and and can pursue on your down time. Consider drawing, writing, blogging, or even collecting! Do whatever makes you feel fulfilled and has the power to take your mind off your duties as a mom for a while.

5) Make Time for God

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” (Psalm 62:5)

Making time for yourself is important, but so is making time for God. Giving yourself a little spiritual boost by reading daily Bible verses or spiritually inspiring quotes can give you the motivation you need to make it through the rest of the day. Try spending some time in quiet prayer when you wake up, before you go to bed, or just whenever you have a free moment.

Being a stay-at-home mom is a naturally rewarding life choice, but these five tips can help to make it even more so. Give your children the best mother you can give them by devoting a bit of effort to looking after the needs of your own mind, body, and soul.
